Ford Rouge Factory Tour – The Heart of American Automobiles

Our day began with a tour of the legendary Ford Rouge Factory, which has been a cornerstone of Ford’s production since its inception in the early 20th century. The Rouge site was initially envisioned by Henry Ford as a “self-sufficient” factory, where raw materials could enter one end and finished cars could roll off the line at the other. Over the years, the factory has evolved, but it remains one of the most advanced manufacturing facilities in the world.

The National Corvette Museum is conveniently located off I-65 exit 28, across from the General Motors’ Assembly Plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Spanning 115,000 square feet, this museum is a shrine to the Corvette, showcasing more than 80 ’Vettes as well as concept cars – including one of the original 1953 Corvettes, the only 1983 Corvette in existence and other rare and unique Corvettes.

Road Trip Across America: From Houston To Detroit. We celebrate The Interstate, Cars, Culture And History

There’s something liberating about the open road – the rhythmic hum of tires, the changing landscape outside the window and the promise of new experiences just a few miles ahead. Ever since Gail and I were little kids, it has been engrained in our childhood. As adults, this is what we were looking for when embarking on our latest road trip adventures that began with a mid-morning flight from Toronto to Houston, Texas.

Germany: A Day Trip To Esslingen am Neckar

On our recent trip to Germany, we visit the beautiful medieval city of Esslingen – or Esslingen am Neckar if you want its full name. From our base just outside of Speyer/Hockenheim in Germany, our day trip to Esslingen started at the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart before taking the short 15 minute drive to the centre of Esslingen. We’ve been to Stuttgart numerous times –usually for the Cannstatter Volksfest (Oktoberfest), but until recently didn’t realize Esslingen was so close or we’d have visited it sooner!

Germany: Day trip To Drachenburg & Drachenfels Castle, Königswinter

From our base just outside of Speyer/Hockenheim in Germany, we do day trips that are easy to get to and worth the journey and fuel to visit. This trip to (Schloss) Drachenburg Castle / Drachenfels Castle / Drachenfelsbahn was over-ambitious at first because there were so many things to see on the way there – it actually would have been a weekend trip instead of just one day.

France: A Day Trip To “La Petite France” In Strasbourg

Strasbourg is one of those cities that has been on our list to visit for a number of years. After putting it off on one of our many trips to Germany, we finally made it a point to drive there and have a visit. Our base in Germany is nice and central to so many regions. Located close to Speyer/Hockenheim, we are only about 45-50 minutes from Strasbourg, so there’s no excuse NOT to go in reality…
