Way back in 2017, we introduced you to the vivid underwater world of Twelve Mile Bank — the debut novel from British-born, nomad author, friend and diver Nicholas Harvey. From One Book to Three Series (and Beyond)

Nicholas’ original series featuring AJ Bailey — a Grand Cayman dive boat operator with a knack for getting tangled in high-stakes danger — is now an 18-book-strong adventure series. The series kicks off with Twelve Mile Bank, which we wrote about here, and continues to evolve with rich Caribbean settings, fast-paced plots, and of course, plenty of scuba diving suspense.

But AJ Bailey isn’t the only star anymore.

Along came Sommer …

Harvey also launched a gripping spin-off series centered around Nora Sommer — a runaway from Norway who rebuilt her life in the Cayman Islands and now serves as a detective in the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service. Nora, who first appeared in the AJ Bailey books, now headlines her own suspense-driven series. Her stories explore the darker undercurrents of island life, weaving in trauma, tenacity, and high-stakes criminal investigations.

In addition to AJ and Nora’s adventures, Nicholas Harvey writes and co-writes several other gripping mystery-thriller series that span a range of tones and settings:

• The Investigator Kat Cromwell Mystery Series – Nicholas’ newest solo series, starring a clever and tenacious Californian investigator who tackles twisty, emotionally layered cases with smarts, strength, and heart.

• The Greene Wolfe Thriller Series (with Douglas Pratt) – One of Nicholas’ personal favourites to write, this series blends cutting-edge technology, covert intelligence, and relentless pacing to deliver high-stakes, modern thrillers.

• He’s also a proud member of the Tropical Authors collaborative — a growing group of writers who share a love for warm-weather adventures, salty suspense, and supporting each other’s work. It’s a vibrant community that fits Nicholas perfectly — and it’s helping expand his reach even further.
